DELLOSA: REPURPOSING IS A GAS
Eeron Dellosa is the artist behind Gal-vanized. She has been cutting metal for over 20 years. Although she did not find her niche until almost 2 years ago. Repurposing vintage metal into art. Cutting intricate designs in metal gas, oil, and kerosene cans as well as hand saws, shovels, and whatever else she can find that speaks to her. Many of the items are destined for the trash or the scrap yard but she saves them and gives them new life, beautiful decorations for people’s homes and businesses. People have even brought her heirlooms to be repurposed.
Each item is carefully picked by Eeron or her team of pickers (Mom, Dad and a close circle of friends). Then taken to her workshop in Stokesdale NC. There it is thoroughly cleaned. Thoughtfully pondered as to what would look great cut into the antique metal. Then each item receives a hand drawn pattern and is cut by hand. No stencils or CNC machines are used. The cans have been referred to as “Can-o-lanterns” as they look great with lights inside lighting up the design.
Over the last 2 years she has collected over 2000 “Canvases.” She is very excited to be bringing her work all the way from North Carolina for this year’s festival.
