Concrete Creations with Endless Possibilities
Concrete Creations started several years ago with a phone call from my wine sommelier daughter, Ellen, asking if I could make a couple of concrete wine barrels to ferment and/or store wine. Ellen explained that some California vintners were installing concrete fermenters and concrete tanks for wine production as done in France and Italy for centuries. I made two 30 gallon barrels that were put into service and used for several years successfully. However, the weight of the barrel made it uneconomical to pursue. But now I was bitten by the concrete bug and downsized to a smaller container that is sold as a planter but could also be used as a wine fermenter. As I continued to tinker, I started creating smaller pots, wine chillers, vases, coaster sets, bowls, business card holders, charcuterie boards, and even Christmas décor. My wife, Karen, started filling some of the containers with soy wax for candles and other pots with succulents. People began to show interest in our products so we created Concrete Creations and started selling our products. It was suggested that Shaker Woods would be a great fit for us, so here we are!
